week 8

during this week from the feedbacks, I have done modifications to the introduction.i have added the present statistics related to the vehicles and accidents from the data related to the

“National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) Motor Vehicle Traffic Crash Data Resource Page”

 https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/#/?Id=227&ShowBy=Category

I have taken few cases from it like the number of the population subjected to the accidents

I have gone through the Google report 2015 the accidents related to the human errors

it has stated that in the year 2013, 2.3 million people has injured in the car accidents because of the human errors

I have gone through the article “Traffic Safety  Facts 2017” it has stated that 70 percent of the drivers who has faced accidents are due to the consumption of the alcohol

I have gone through an article named “Message Authentication in Driverless Cars “

and stated the information from it related to the importance of DoS attacks.

I have done the modifications to the literature review by collecting the data from

Autonomous Robot Vehicles”

here is the link for the above article

https://books.google.co.nz/books?hl=en&lr=&id=jwnaBwAAQBAJ&oi=fnd&pg=PR13&dq=autonomous+vehicles&ots=YfgKeYFxdr&sig=8bRz9Wt46dIZfZNRiyX2lPqGJhg#v=onepage&q=autonomous%20vehicles&f=false

this link provided me with an information of the what are the key capabilities that an autonomous vehicle should have in the functioning.  In a short way, I have understood that it must have

1.sensers

2.Interpretation mechanism

3.designing the path capabilities

after certain browsing in a case of literature review, I have gone through the journal namedA Perception-Driven Autonomous Urban Vehicle”

here is the link

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/rob.20262/epdf”

where it have provided with the various technologies and basic diagram  used in the detection and working of the autonomous vehicles like Road paint detecters,  lane trackers,  obstacle detectors hazard detectors, positioning modular

archi

For the purpose of literature review, I have gone through the article ‘Introduction to Vehicular Networks”

Here is the link for above article

http://www.senouci.net/download/Publications/Book-Chapters/Senouci_AU-2008.pdf

I have learned about the architecture of VANET and types of it.

it has stated the vehicle communications with the other vehicles and advancements of the technologies that are used in autonomous vehicles. In the case of an autonomous vehicle, I  have described the types and main scenario of autonomous vehicles.

the types of vehicles depending on the level of technology

In the chapter two literature review,  I have mentioned the gaps in literature by referring the articles namely

“A New Anti-Jamming Strategy for VANET”,  written by Ikechukwu K. Azogu, Michael T. Ferreira, Jonathan A. Larcom, Hong Li, and article “GDVAN: A New Greedy Behavior Attack Detection Algorithm for VANETs” written by the Ben-Othman, Mohamed Nidhal Mejri and Jalel. and from the article “Hybrid Intrusion Detection in Connected Self-Driving Vehicles” written by the “Khattab M. Ali Alheeti, Klaus McDonald-Maier”

from those articles it was grasped that

lots of techniques have been proposed for the detection of DoS and DDoS attacks against VANET but, it seemed that their work comes into action  when attacks have been launched. Very few schemes have been proposed to predict malicious nodes before they launch an attack on vehicles. from those it felt me prediction of the malicious vehicles will be important for the avoidance of the attacks. As day by day the vehicles are increasing end to end delay is also increasing.

the concept of  detecting and preventing Denial of Service attacks with little  delay when vehicles increase in number would be interesting

In the literature review

I have distinguished the levels of the vehicles in a table as below fro the analysis made from the articles

Automation level Description
0 Level Driver controls all functions of car
1 Level Automation is done of one function only
2 Level The driver must stay attentive continuously as automation is done of more than one function of car
3 Level Driver can do other tasks as enough functions of car are automated
4 Level No human intervention is required as car gets fully automated

I even took the example of the conventional vehicles from the report  “Autonomous Vehicle Technology” written by the ‘James M. Anderson, Nidhi Kalra, Karlyn D. Stanley, Paul Sorensen, Constantine Samaras, Oluwatobi A. Oluwatola” and illustrate with the autonomous vehicles blog1

from the whole work done on  chapter 2

Autonomous vehicle (AV) technology was explained.from referring those articles it was known that emerging the AV technology to the light vehicles will help in better performance and reduction in a number of the accidents.here in this chapter different levels of autonomous vehicles and the investigation of the dos attacks were stated…

Hoping this information might be useful….

thank you…….
